Skyline Story

This rescue actually developed over the course of about a month. Employees at Skyline Medical Center had noticed an obviously pregnant dog wandering in and around the property. A number of attempts were made over this period to safely capture her, but to no avail. She delivered her eight pups in the cold around New Years Eve.

We had received a number of calls, during this time period, but were unfortunately unable to locate the mother to be. But through the diligence of some concerned employees at Skyline we were about to get our big break.

Another call on the seventh of January, and another failed attempt to locate mama. But Sunday morning luck was on our side. We were going to the Skyline property to do another search when lo and behold one of the ER nurses had mama in the back of her car. We were going to use her to take us to her litter when a mother and her daughter pulled up and let us know the puppies were on their property just up the road. They had taken the time to be sure mom and babies had blankets for warmth, and mom was fed so she could feed her little brood. But they did not move the babies so mama wouldn’t leave them. Mom had them well hidden and out of the weather on the property in a wooded area.

I wish we could show pictures of the actual rescue but we will not out of respect to the property owner. But here is the proud mother and her beautiful babies. Now they are safe and warm and well cared for. The nurse who captured the mom plans to keep her and has named her Maggie.

Don’t you just love a happy ending?
