Fancy & Aztec Story

Some stories begin once-upon-a-time but those are fairy tales. This unfortunately is not a fairy tale. The sad truth is this is not an isolated incident. All across this great land of ours animals are subjected to cruelties we cannot even begin to understand. Not to minimize anything at all, this can actually be considered neglect to the point of cruelty.

We begin with a posting on Craig's list. This is so touching that the initial wording should speak for itself:

First I wanted to say that these 2 dogs are very scared, when the owner turned away and left them, they had to be dragged into the cage..their whole world is upside down. And their owner left and never looked back. They started crying

I am a rescue who volunteers at a pound in NC.. ..They just called and said I only have till Wed. to get these 2 owner surrender dogs a home... they are going to put them to sleep. The black dog has a deep wound from an embedded collar, poor baby, can you imagine how much pain he must have been in..

They are at a shelter in Roanoke Rapids NC - I can get the dogs for you . An application must be filled out but I can email you the application to ensure a safe home.

I have no room to take them ....if I cannot find an adopter for these two dogs then they will be put to sleep and its a shame as they are such nice dogs

email me asap for an application - if you do not live too far, maybe we can meet halfway.

This is Tuesday December 20. Even prisoners on death row have a longer wait before sentencing is carried out than simply 24 hours. The only thing these animals did was have an owner who no longer cared.

Here begins the miracle: Our president Nina Ground became involved and enlisted the help of Pilots-N-Paws. A non profit whose sole mission is the safe transport of at risk animals . As the communication transpired, little by little the pieces began to fall into place to bring these girls to our rescue. Nancy, who had no room to take them, fostered them until December 29 when their flight to freedom took place. Our hats are off to these fine pilots who donate their time, aircrafts, and fuel, to make things like this happen every day across America.

All in all we are almost to our happy ending. This will happen when these girls make it to their forever home. Here is why your donations are so important. We house over thirty stories wrapped up in fur and love. And with food, shelter, bedding, and veterinary care you can see how this all adds up. We need you as much as these animals need us.
Perhaps you would consider sponsorship of an animal. Even a one time, or a monthly donation can do so much for those who have so little but hope of eventually going to a place to finally call home.
I would like to personally thank you for whatever you find in your heart to help us with our call in life. And I'm sure the dogs thank you also.

UPDATE: We are overjoyed to report that Aztec has been adopted and is quite happy in her forever home
